Rehab near Bedfordshire

Addiction is a severe disease that impacts your mood and affects your behaviour. When you abuse drugs, some of the physical side effects include poor reflexes, erratic behaviour, confusion, disrupted sleeping patterns, anxiety, depression, liver failure, heart diseases, and more.

The danger of addiction is that it takes a while to develop, so, by the time you notice it, the symptoms will have already manifested. You need professional help to overcome addiction to drugs and alcohol. A rehab centre will help you to heal your mind and your body from this disease. The goal is for you to learn coping skills, so you can manage triggers without turning to drugs. Rehab centres in Bedfordshire incorporate the family into treatment too, so you can all heal together, and rebuild broken relationships caused or worsened by addiction.

The Pros and Cons of Private Rehab

The Pros

  • Therapeutic environment – The environment plays a major role in helping you heal. Rehab centres provide a therapeutic, stable, safe, and relaxed environment that improves treatment outcome. This environment also eliminates the risk of relapse, because there are no triggers or temptations around you.
  • Customised treatment plan – A disadvantage of state-funded treatment, is that detox and rehabilitation are usually conducted in group settings to save on cost. Rehab centres in Bedfordshire offer a highly Individualised treatment, that ensures a positive outcome. Your detox plan and rehab treatment are both designed based on the results of your initial psychiatric and physical assessment.
  • Experienced counsellors – One of the reasons why rehab centres are expensive is that they hire the best drug counsellors, and specialist doctors and nurses to provide excellent care for patients. These counsellors have a wealth of experience in helping addicts get clean and overcoming their addiction.

The Cons

The cost of treatment can put private rehab out of the reach of some but this should be weighed up against the longer-term effects of continued addiction both financial, physical and spiritual

How to Choose a Recovery Programme

If you’ve made the choice to go to rehab, there are hundreds of options for you to choose from in the UK alone. This may be overwhelming if you don’t know what to look for. A few things to consider when looking for an addiction treatment centre include:
The reputation of the rehab centre: Go online and read reviews about the rehab centre. What are the alumni saying about the level of care and efficacy of treatment? Speak to doctors and specialists who’ve worked with them, and get in touch with former patients if possible. Look through their website, an established rehab centre offers lots of resources and guides that give you a feel of what to expect at the rehab centre.

  • Size of the facility: Usually, larger rehab centres in Bedfordshire treat more addictions and mental illnesses than smaller-sized rehab centres. Conversely, smaller rehabs offer more specialised, hands-on treatment, because they are able to focus better on you and your particular addiction needs.
  • Locked, or unlocked, facility: Continuing from the previous point, it is important to take note of the environment where you’ll be receiving treatment, because it could affect the outcome. When visiting rehab centres, ask the officials if it’s a locked or unlocked facility. Locked facilities are like hospitals, because they accept psychiatric patients who need advanced mental health treatment. Unlocked treatment centres look and feel more like resorts, because you have freedom of movement.
  • Expertise of staff: The staff have a very important role to play in treatment, because you’ll be spending a lot of time with them in rehab. Look at the credentials of the staff. Are they certified to treat your specific addiction? Don’t sign up for any rehab centre because it’s the cheapest option, look for a programme that caters to your specific needs.
