The therapy team strives to build on skills achieved in your primary treatment in a structured, effective secondary care plan. Also, we will focus on the development of self-sufficiency and abilities, which are even more related to handling difficult social situations and eventual stimuli for negative emotions.
While you’re in our extended residential treatment program, you receive 24-hour care in a home-like setting. Treatment focuses on building a sense of responsibility and nurturing a socially productive life. You receive support from compassionate staff members, especially during activities designed to repair damaging beliefs and build constructive behaviour patterns.
Staying in a rehab centre for 30 to 90 days will add several benefits to your therapy and rehabilitation. Time passes quickly as you concentrate on recovering one step at a time through detox, therapy and aftercare. Everyone’s journey is different, and some clients benefit from an extended stay in a monitored environment. This gives you the extra time you need to continue improving your habits, refreshing your outlook and finding those things that make you feel better and happier.
Extended rehab addiction treatment gives you the time, space and guidance to address every facet of your addiction. If you’re wondering if a six- to 12-month residential rehab programme is right for you, the following list can help you decide:
Long-time drug or alcohol users
If you have had a substance abuse disorder for a long time, you have probably developed a deep physical and psychological dependence on drugs or alcohol. This may have resulted in serious damage to your body. As you heal, it’s essential to relearn self-care such as exercising, healthy eating and getting enough rest.
Someone with a dual diagnosis of mental illness
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, (6) 8 million adults suffer from both addiction and a mental health disorder. This condition is known as a co-occurring disorder.
Mental health concerns such as schizophrenia, depression or bipolar disorder often accompany addiction. For long-term recovery, both conditions must be addressed. This may prove difficult in a short-term programme. In extended rehab, you work with experienced professionals to overcome the challenges of mental health and addiction in a comfortable venue.
When you attend extended addiction rehab treatment for 90 days or more, you can develop habits that carry over into lifelong recovery. (5) It takes time to solidify these habits, and a facility providing subsequent rehabilitation and addiction support gives you a stable place to do so.
Behavioural therapies and personal recovery plans help you see beyond the damage that addiction has wrought on your life. The concentration is on healing and gaining confidence and respect for the needs of your body and mind. The longer you can work through the various therapies with your counsellors, the more deeply rooted your positivity becomes.
Extended rehab helps you work through intertwined emotional and mental concerns, so they don’t threaten your recovery by not being addressed.
Let us provide the structure you need to continue your recovery without giving up your independence. Fenton House follows the therapeutic community (TC) model, which involves long-term stays for three, six or up to 12 months. In the TC model, you focus on socialisation.
Fenton House is located at Box Mill Lane, Halstead, Essex. Clients enjoy restful surroundings. During your stay at Fenton House, you’ll enjoy family-style living in a detached five-bedroom home with a garden and shared kitchen and lounge areas. We’re close to London when you need the amenities of a large city.
